Pondy municipality, commune panchayat employees court arrest

Puducherry, June 13 (UNI) As many as 224 members of the Federation of Municipality and Commune Panchayat Employees Association today courted arrest as part of their 'fill the jail' agitation to press their demands.

The employees, demanding Government employee status, promotion and removal of pay anomalies, took out a procession to picket the Chief Secretariate and courted arrest.

Meanwhile, the garbage cleaning employees of Ozhukarai municipality took out a procession and staged a dharna in front of the Local Administration department, demanding pay hike and promotion.
