Mayawati reverts Mulayam's decision on abolition of 9 districts
Lucknow, June 13 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today reverted back the decisions made by the previous Mulayam Singh Yadav government to abolish nine districts and four divisions in January 2004.
The decision to revive the four divisions and nine districts was taken in a cabinet meeting here chaired by Chief Minister Mayawati.
The previous Samajwadi Party government had disbanded the four divisions and nine districts on January 13,2004 but it was scrapped by the Allahabad High Court on May 21, 2004. Later the government notified to revive the divisions/districts on June 25,2004.
The abolished divisions were Devi Patan, Basti, Mirzapur and Saharanpur divisions and the districts were Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Shrawasti, Mahamaya Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kaushambi, Auriya, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Chandauli and Ambedkar Nagar.
Now after reverting earlier cabinet decision of January 2004, these districts would get hospitals and other infrastructural projects along with effective administration.
In another decision, the state cabinet decided to hike the pay scale of UDC and additional private secretary in the secretariat from Rs 5500-9000 to Rs 6500-10,500 on the basis of central pay scale. The state government will have to bear an additional expenditure of Rs 2.11 crore.
The state government has also hiked the pay scale of stewards of medical colleges by Rs 800 per month.
