Karunanidhi discharged; to leave for Delhi in the evening

Chennai, Jun 13 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi, who was admitted to a private hospital here for a check up this morning, was discharged and will leave for New Delhi this evening.

Official sources told UNI that Mr Karunanidhi was admitted to the hospital at about 0930 hrs for a routine check up. He also had a mild swelling in his leg.

He was kept under observation for a couple of hours and discharged at about 1200 hrs.

Mr Karunanidhi would be leaving for New Delhi this evening to finalise the UPA candidate for the ensuing Presidential polls. He was likely to hold discussions with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other leaders in this regard.

The Chief Minister was earlier scheduled to leave for the national capital last evening, but had deferred it.
