Governor reviews arrangements for Amarnath yatra

Jammu, June 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen S K Sinha (Retd) today visited the Amarnath yatra base camp in the city here and directed the administrative officials to put collective efforts for facilitating pilgrims at Jammu and the forward base camps at Baltal and Pahalgam.

Lt Gen Sinha, after conducting an extensive tour of forward base camps last week, went around the base camp site here at Bagwati Nagar this afternoon. The camp is proposed to be developed on 40 kanals of land.

The Govenor, who is also the chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, said the Board would erect shelters and environment-friendly pre-fabricated toilets and baths at the proposed site.

He asked the administration to ensure early departure of the yatra convoy so that it reaches the designated destination well in time.
