Mumbai, Jun 13 (UNI) Well known artist Gopika Kaarthikeyan opened her ''Silent Renewal'' exhibition on nature photography at the Tao Art Gallery.

Gopika's exhibition showcased her work on everyday objects, namely fallen leaves and plastic sheets yesterday.

Using only a Sony DSC H7 digital camera, and no touch-ups, she brings out the beauty of her subjects which are often missed by not only the layman but other artists too.

Her series on fallen leaves bears a testimony to her taste and technique. Every stage when its has just fallen off, till the time it has dried up, is captured in a flow.

Equally creative is her series on the common plastic sheets used as shades by vendors and vegetable sellers. In Gopika's hands they are transformed in surreal and ethereal strands and waves of Persian blue, saffron, and stark black and white.

Having studied Applied Art at the Sophia Polytechnic College of Art and Design, Gopika has held 10 exhibitions of her works over the past 12 years. She is also the daughter of senior artist Prafulla Dahanukar.

Gopika's work will be on at the Tao Art gallery till June 22.
