Farmers plan march to Bisalpur dam for demanding water

Jaipur, June 13 (UNI) Farmers in Rajasthan's Tonk district will march to the Bisalpur dam on August 15, if their demand for water from the dam is not met by that time.

This decision was taken today at the farmer mahapanchayat (meet) organised by the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti at Jhirana in Tonk district.

The assembled farmers also paid tributes to five farmers who were killed in a police firing in Sohela two years ago while protesting.

Sangarsh Samiti coordinator Zakir Hussain said, different groups of farmers will meet and march from Hamirpur to the Bisalpur dam on August 15 if their demand will not fulfill.

CPI MLA Amraram , former MLA Hetram Beniwal and other leaders addressed the farmers. The police had made tight security arrangements in view of the mahapanchayat.
