Demand for High Speed Railway Corridor
Bangalore, June 13 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Tourism and Infrastructure B Sreeramulu today said the government had urged the Railway Ministry to provide a High Speed Railway Corridor between Mysore-Bangalore, Hubli-Bangalore and Hubli-Pune before implementation of such a project between Chennai and Kerala.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the implementation of High Speed Passenger Corridors, particularly from Hubli, would be of much help to the people of north Karnataka for travelling to Bangalore in just two hours.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had already written to the Railway Ministry on the matter and it had agreed to take up the feasibility study soon, he added.
Mr Sreeramulu said Delhi Metro Rail Managing Director E Shreedharan met him today to discuss High Speed Rail link for the new Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli, here. The project details were worked out and survey and feasibility studies were being conducted, he added.
After completion of the project, it would take just 23 minutes for the passengers to reach the International Airport from the Cricket Stadium in the city, he said.
The Minister said the project would take more than two years for completion.
The state government had modified the architecture design of the International airport following suggestions from Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and it had urged him to open the Devanahalli Airport in April 2008 after closing the HAL airport.
