Bangalore, Jun 13 (UNI) Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting today felt that India should appoint a full time coach without wasting any time and he did not see why an Australian can't fit in as a coach of the Indian team anymore.

Replying to a question over the alleged opposition by Sunil Gavaskar, a key member in the BCCI Coach Selection Committee, over appointing an Australian as Indian Coach, he said "you look around and you find Australians as coaches are doing extremely well in half of the World's sides and Tom Moody is a good example. He took Sri Lanka to the World Cup final. It's upto those guys (members of the Committee). I can't see why an Australian cannot do a good job as an Indian Coach." Explaining the importance of a professional coach, the Aussie skipper said it was important that a professional be appointed coach to take care of the needs of the team.

Speaking to the media at 'Innings with Ricky Ponting' organised by ING Vysya Bank where nearly 350 children from various schools participated in the net practice, Ponting said even though a cricket team is mainly driven by the captain like in any other sport, a coach was important as he helped the teams in mapping out its programmes, organising the training sessions and make sure of a 'happy environment' in the team considering the hectic schedule the present day players were facing.

"The captain is the one who basically run the game of cricket but a coach can make the job of a cricketer much easier. So it is important for India not to let the +Coach dilemma+ running any further," he added.
