Agartala, June 13 (UNI) As part of nationwide indefinite strike, employees of state-owned airline Indian in Agartala staged loud demonstration demanding pay hikes and payment of arrears today.

No in-bound flight landed at the airport, which affected the air traffic while a good number of passengers waited at the Agartala airport lounge since morning.

The ground staff, security personnel and baggage handlers of the carrier had launched strike last night after failure of the ongoing talks between the management and Air Corporation Employees' Union (ACEU).

ACEU members here alleged that the delay in implementing the 1997 Demand Charter by the Indian management had led to employees staying away from work.

The demands included immediate settlement of the Demand Charter of 1997, higher wages, career progression and a pension scheme, ACEU officials said adding, ''On wage revision and career progression, everything has been negotiated and settled, but the management is unnecessarily causing delay.
