Nagaland: 4 NSCN (K) cadres killed in fresh clash

Kohima, Jun 13: Four NSCN (K) cadres were killed and another injured when suspected rival NSCN-IM cadres ambushed a hideout in Mekokla village under Bhandari sub-division of Wokha district, near Wokha town yesterday.

According to official sources here today five NSCN (K) cadres were camping in a house of Mekokla village and the attackers came at the wee hours in the morning and ambushed the camping cadres, who were in deep sleep.

Four cadres died in the spot, while one of them escaped with injuries.

Later, police recovered the bodies of the slain cadres and altogether 56 spent cases of AK-47 and US Carbine, with few cases of .303 rifles were recovered from the spot.

According to some other sources, the attackers also took away five automatic rifles and some ammunition from the slain cadres.

In an another incident in this capital town last night, unidentified gunmen shot dead one Computer student of a private institute in the Government High School area at around 2030 hours.

The cause of killing could not be ascertained. The victim had been identified as one Sutsungtemsu.

Police registered a case and investigation is on to ascertain whether the killing was insurgency related or not, sources said.
