Unidentified dacoits kill woman, injure her husband

Thane, June 12 (UNI) A gang of six unidentified armed dacoits allegedly attacked a middle-aged couple at Virar in the district early today, killing a woman and seriously wounding her husband.

The gang members raided the bungalow of the Rodrigues in Badi Ali, of Nandakal at Virar and attacked Masha Rodrigues (45) and her husband Gabriel (50), while they were asleep, before fleeing with valuables. In the attack, Masha succumbed to her wounds, Thane Rural Police said today.

At around 0530 hrs, when the neighbours did not get any response from the Rodrigues, they grew suspicious and acted and found the woman murdered and the husband seriously wounded.

Gabriel was rushed to a local hospital and then shifted to P D Hinduja Hospital at Mumbai, where his condition is said to be stable, police added.

The police have registered an offence of dacoity and murder and no arrest has been made till now.

Last week, in a similar incident, an old lady was killed in Mira Bhayander locality of the district.
