Power blues add to the woes of heat-hit people in Jammu

Jammu, June 12 (UNI) Coupled with the hot and humid weather, the unscheduled power cuts continued to hit hard the normal life today in this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Despite a fall in the soaring mercury being recorded, the increased humidity added to the woes of people who were seen adopting various measure to chill themselves.

People preferred to stay indoor, as the atmosphere was not clear due to smog.

An acute power shortage is forcing four to five hours of unscheduled power cuts in the entire city, which the power officials say was due to the excessive use of electricity by the consumers.

Five hours a day is scheduled electricity curtailment in this region, sources said.

Moreover, the water supply to various areas of the city has been affected badly due to the insufficient electricity to the water pumping stations of the Public Health Engineering department.
