KPCC demands resignation of Health Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, June 12 (UNI) The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) today demanded the resignation of Kerala Health Minister P K Sreemathy for her failure in containing the outbreak of viral fever in the state.
It said the Health Minister had miserably failed to coordinate various government agencies in providing treatment and taking precautionary measures in controlling the epidemic.
Even few weeks after the outbreak of the dreaded fever, including Chikungunya, the government could not take any effective measures to tackle the menace, a KPCC release said here.
It also alleged that both the government and the Health Department made a serious lapse in controlling the epidemic, which continued to spread during the past one year.
As the government run hospitals in the state had no sufficient doctors and facilities, it had to depend on other agencies, including the defence to check the outbreak, it charged.
It demanded the government to provide free ration to the people in the effected areas and to release Rs one lakh each to the families of those died in the fever, the release added.
