Srinagar, Jun 12 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has accorded sanction to the renewal and extension of group janta personal accidental insurance for its employees for 2007-08 and roped in ICICI Lombard for this purpose, an official spokesman said today.

He said the state Cabinet, which met here last evening with Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the chair, accorded the sanction.

The spokesman said the employees have been insured for a sum of Rs 3.40 lakh each with the annual premium of Rs 120 per person.

He said the insured money has been enhanced from Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 3.40 lakh per employee.

The spokesman said the insurance policy, tied up with ICICI Lombard, would be effective from April 18 this year.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet also sanctioned widening and upgrading of the road from Leh Town to Airport. The four-lane road would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 857.78 lakh, he added.
