Shimla, Jun 12 (UNI) Refuting former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal's statement that the Himalayan Ski Village Project has been cleared in undue haste, a government spokesman today clarified that there was no undue haste in clearing the project's detail project report (DPR).

The DPR was submitted to the government on March 3, this year, and was scrutinised and examined in detail before being approved by the Cabinet on June 5.

The spokesman said the government approved the DPR after examining it for three months from March 3, this year, and there was neither delay nor haste in its approval.

Referring to the non-submission of the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) report, he said it was a separate document and not a part of the DPR.

He said the EIA report was approved by respective states and central environment ministries under the Environment Protect Act and the State Pollution Control Board.

Since no project could proceed without EIA report, the project developers of the Himalayan Ski Village (HSV) have asked to submit the report before the end of this month, the spokesman said.

He said the approval of the DPR and EIA were separate processes which do not prempt each other.
