Fish worth 11,000 cr despatched from AP dists
Machilipatnam, Jun 12: Huge quantity of fish loads worth Rs 11,000 crore were sent to various places in the country from Krishna and neighbouring West Godavari districts of Andhra Pradesh, during the last financial year, according to a fish exporter. Talking to UNI here the exporter Jaisimha said the variety of fish mostly 'rohu and catla' were despatched to West Bengal, Asom, Gujarat, Maharashtra and North Eastern states from Kaikaluru, Akivedu, Bhimavaram, Gopavaram and Narayanapuram areas through 60 agencies.
There was a huge demand for the Kolleru belt fish in the country due to its taste, he added.
He said acquaculture was more profitable than agriculature as each farmer gets an income of Rs two lakh per acre every year.
