New Delhi, Jun 12 (UNI) Taking a serious note of Denmark suspending adoption from India as some adopted children could be abducted, the Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) today ordered an investigation into the matter.

CARA ordered inquiry following media reports that Denmark had suspended all adoptions from India after a news report claimed that some of the children adopted in the Scandinavian country could have been abducted. Danish government has also ordered inquiry into the activities of AC International Child Support, a government approved agency, which was shown to have received children from Pune-based orphanage 'Preet Mandir' without the birth parents' approval.

CARA Chairman J K Mittal said the license of the concerned adoption agency--Preet Mandir-- was earlier suspended but it was recently revoked temporarily. The report of a CBI inquiry into the activities of the agency was awaited, he said and added that suitable action would be taken once it was received.

A documentary film broadcast in Copenhegan recently had shown orphanage manager J Bhasin, filmed with hidden camera, saying that a child cost 7000 dollars. The Denmark Government said children adopted in Denmark could not be bought and it was also against international law so it suspended all adoption from India.

The documentary showned one Ramesh Kulkarne alleging that after his wife's death he had put his two children temporarily at the orphanage, but he was barred from seeing them there for years. In April this year, he learned that his children have been adopted in Denmark through AC International Child Support.
