Baba Mann Singh denies charges of sexual harrassment

Kurukshetra, Jun 12 (UNI) Baba Maan Singh, the religious head of a Dera at Pehowawale today came under the cloud of a controversy following news beamed by a TV news channel regarding the allegations of rape made by some women against him.

Surrounded by mediapersons, the Baba however, strongly denied charges of sexual harrassment levelled against him by some women on a television channel and termed the allegations as ''an attempt to malign the image of the Dera by some frustrated elements jealous of its fast spreading popularity among the people, both the Sikhs and the Hindus''.

Talking to the reporters who had gathered at the Pehowa Dera about 30 km from here following the news reports, Baba Maan Singh said earlier also there had been attempts by ''some disgruntled elements ousted from the Dera to tarnish its image but they had miserably failed''.

Meanwhile, Mr Mahavir Singh, DSP Pehowa said there was ''no case, criminal or otherwise, registered against the Baba in Pehowa police station, either by any student of the Baba's Ishwar Academy or any outsider''.
