Asia's first 'Apollo health city' inaugurated

Hyderabad, Jun 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today inaugurated the first functional 'Apollo health city', in the city, established at the cost of Rs 1000 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Reddy said Hyderabad city was becoming a hub of health care as people from abroad were also coming to the city for quality medical treatment.

Stating that the government was offering free medical treatment to children who were suffering from cardiac diseases, he said the Corporate hospital should also take care of the health of rural masses.

Reiterating that his govenrment would introduce 'Arogya Sri' programme in all districts at the earliest, Dr Reddy said that 1300 operations were done since the scheme was introduced in three district on a pilot basis in April.

Earlier, speaking to newspersons, Apollo Hospitals Chairman and Managing Director Dr Prathap Reddy said the health city, spread across 33 acres, was an integrated healthcare system offering solutions across the health care space.

Stating that the health city would also have research facility to conduct research on many diseases Dr Pratap said at present 72 clinical trials were going on in Apollo.

He said the hospitals would also introduce patient insurance policy in collaboration with DKV insurance comapny, based in Europe countries. This scheme would be introduced by the end of August this year.
