Approach paper for chemical hub contradictory: WBPCC
Kolkata, Jun 12 (UNI) West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee(WBPCC) today said the "approach paper" for a chemical hub submitted by the state government was "incomplete and contradictory." WBPCC acting president Pradip Bhattacharya said this in a statement after receiving a letter from Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee regarding Congress' opinion for setting up chemical hub in the state.
The Chief Minister had sent a letter and asking "our opinion about the setting up chemical hub in the state before calling the all-party meeting. We had discussed the matter with some chemical specialists and the party leaders and some follow ups queries with the government in this regard," Mr Bhattacharjee said.
"The approach paper is incomplete and has some contradictory points which the state government should clarify otherwise it would be difficult for us to give our opinion about the chemical hub," he said.
"We have placed some suggestions to the government and asked them which lands the government wants to acquire for chemical hub." " It is the government should decide whether it acquire vested land or the farmers' agriculture land ", Mr Bhattacharjee said.
The government has formed an environment investigation committee with the help of chemical, industry and environment specialists and what was their opinion about the hub, the Congress asked.
He said the party will give its opinion after receiving all queries from the government.
