Z-category security cover withdrawn from Therie

Kohima, Jun 11 (UNI) Former Nagaland Finance Minister and dissident Nagaland Peoples' Front(NPF) leader Therie, who was expelled from his party, today took strong exception to the order of the state Home Department to withdraw his Z-category security cover.

Mr Therie, the most vocal opponent of the Neiphiu Rio-led ruling Democratic Alliance of Nagaland(DAN), along with some other legislators, listed under Z-category security by the State Threat Perception Committee, was provided with eight body guards and three to four escorts, besides two police vehicles for their conveyance.

In a statement today, he expressed surprise at the sudden move to withdraw the two security vehicles. He alleged that the order came close on the heels of the recent political crisis arising from the his group's action to replace the chief minister as DAN leader.

Mr Therie said that soon after receiving the order from the Kohima superintendent of police, he wrote a letter to the governor, requesting the latter to review the order.
