Youth marries step-mother

Muzaffarnagar, June 11 (UNI) In a bizarre incident, a youth married his half-mother, much to the dismay of his father in particular and the community in general.

Haseem -- a resident of Gangeru village -- had married his cousin's widow, a mother of eight, Ruksana (42). The man already had six children from his first wife.

Due to financial crises, Hassem migrated to Meerut in search of a job. During his absence, Shaukeen---his son from the first wife-- and Ruksana fell in love.

On being informed, Haseem rushed to his residence to protest, but was instead beaten black and blue by his son late last night.

''I am deeply hurt. I never expected that my son would ditch me. The 'nikah' is even against the principles of Islam,'' Haseem said.

He said he would move court against this ''unlawful'' step after 'shariyat'.

On the other hand, Shaukeen contended: ''Love has no barriers. It is above all. Our relation is pious and I do not find anything wrong in it.'' Meanwhile, a case has been registered under section 307 of the IPC.
