Two die and 108 ill after consuming contaminated water

Bellary, Karnataka, June 11 (UNI) Two people died and more than 108 others have fallen ill after consuming contaminated water from a well in Devara Mallapura village, about 90 km from here.

According to official sources, Kollappa (80) and Bommakka (45) started vomitting and died today while others have been admitted to Hospital.

It was reported that the water was mostly used for washing cloths and cleaning animals and consuming this water might have caused death. Among those who had fallen ill 43 have been admitted to local hospitals.

District Health Department officials have rushed to the village and taken steps to clean the well water. Meanwhile drinking water was being supplied to the village through tankers.
