Train services disrupted following murder of 'pradhan' in Bengal

Bangaon, June 11 (UNI) Train services were disrupted today in the Bangaon-Ranaghat section of Sealdah division of Eastern Railway following a blockade by CPI(M) activists at the Akaipur Railway station in North 24 Parganas in protest against the killing of a former Panchayat 'pradhan'.

A dawn-to-dusk strike was also being observed, police said.

Former CPI(M) Panchayat 'pradhan' of Akaipur, Subhas Biswas, was murdered yesterday by some miscreants at Aitpara under Gopalnagar Police Station, the police said.

The miscreants allegedly shot the 55-year-old 'pradhan' and hurled bombs before they fled the scene.

While one person was detained by the police, no one has been arrested so far, the police said, adding investigation was on.
