Teachers and BSNL union launches agiatation in Meghalaya
Shillong, Jun 11 (UNI) The Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers' Association in Meghalaya has called for a three-day token strike from June 12 - 14.
The strike had been called after the state government failed to heed their ultimatum, which was served to them on May 25 and again on May 30.
The Association has been demanding for the release of the merger of 50 per cent Dearness Allowance with the basic pay from April 2005 till date.
Earlier, the government had assured the amount would be released at the earliest.
The Association has come to feel that the assurances made by previous Education Minister Dr Donkupar Roy and present Education Minister Robert G Lyngdoh were 'tactical ploys of the government to buy time'.
Meanwhile, the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Employees Union has decided to support the week-long nationwide agitation called by the Committee of Public Sector Trade Unions(CPSTU) from tomotorrow to put pressure on the Government to implement their demands.
The demands included - tenure of agreement, improvement of logical relativity between pay and benefits of non-executives and executives, annual increments on percentage basis of basic pay to be calculated cumulatively every year, wage revision of sick PSUs and financial and policy support for their survival, merger of DA equal to 50 per cent of existing basic pay from 1-4-2004, filling up of all existing vacant post and wage revision of all contract workers ensuring at least minimum wage and benefits available to be permanent workers.
