TDP leader surprised at Cong Govt interest in project

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, June 11 (UNI) Senior Telugu Desam Party Leader and Former State Home Minister K Sivaprasad Rao said he was amused at the group of six Congress ministers headed by the Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah expressing its dissatisfaction at the snail's pace of the Rs 680 crore Pulichintala Irrigation Project.

Talking to newspersons here today, the TDP leader recounted how as the then Opposition party, the Congress voiced its opposition to the project even breaking the foundation stone laid by the then TDP Chief Minister N T Rama Rao and said now the present Congress Government was very much interested in going ahead with it.

The TDP leader alleged Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy was paying undivided attention to Potireddypadu Project on the Krishna River in his native Kadapa District which would benefit Brahmini Steel Plant and Raghuram Cement Factory.

In both companies, the chief ministers's relatives had financial stake, he claimed.

Once the Potireddypadu Project was completed, the huge Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala Projects on Krishna River would go dry, he warned.
