Special Team formed to nab dacoits which robbed Rs 64.97Lkh. Jewelry

Mangalore, June 11 (UNI) A special team has been formed to nab a 10 member dacoity gang which robbed Rs 64.97 lakhs worth Jewelry and cash from a shop in Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada District on June Nine night.

Superintendent of Police B Dayanand told UNI here today that inter-state professional gang might have involved in the crime and efforts are on to arrest the culprits who after threatening the employees at gun point robbed the jewellery and used crude bomb to scare who had gathered in front of the shop before making good with the booty.

The gang robbed gold jewelry kept in showcase weighing about 7.36 kg, Rs 1.70 lakh cash.

He said that although the message of dacoity was flashed immediately to all police stations and began search operations the culprits, who fled in a car, could not be traced. The dog squad pressed into service lost scent due to heavy rains.
