South-west monsoon vigorous in NE states

Pune, June 11 (UNI) The south-west monsoon has been vigorous in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and active in Assam and Meghalaya.

Severe heat wave conditions prevailed in Jammu and Kashmir. Heat wave conditions also prevailed in Haryana,Punjab and in some parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha and Tamil Nadu.

In the regions where the south-west monsoon is yet to set in, day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Uttaranchal, Gujarat state, Konkan and coastal Andhra Pradesh and were above normal in Chattisgarh, Telangana and in remaining parts of Rajasthan. They were appreciably to markedly below normal in interior Orissa, Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh. They were normal over the rest of the regions.

Heavy to very heavy rain are likely to occur at most places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura.

Heavy rain are likely to occur at most places in coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep and at many places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.

Rain or thunder-showers are likely to occur at many places in Gangetic West Bengal, Orissa, Chattisgarh and Konkan and Goa and at a few places in Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and interior Karnataka and at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the Gujarat state.
