Seven train passengers drugged and looted by criminals
Patna, Jun 11 (UNI) Seven passengers of a Howrah-bound Mithila Express were found heavily drugged and unconscious at Motihari station in East Champaran district of North Bihar last night.
East Central Railway sources here today said the victims who also lost all their belongings, including cash and jewellery, were rescued from one of the reserved compartments of the train by GRP personnel and admitted to the sadar hospital at Motihari, about 200 km from here.
Though most of the drugged passengers were yet to gain consciousness to narrate the incident, preliminary investigations revealed that they were offered tea and biscuits by some people in disguise of co-passengers, who also became very friendly to them after boarding the train at Raxaul near the Indo-Nepal border.
Meanwhile, according to a rough estimate more than 300 people, mostly migrant labourers and farmers travelling through different sections of ECR have been heavily drugged by some criminal gangs in Bihar this year who also looted all their belongins leaving their victims totally unconscious for the next few days and at the mercy of others.
