Searing heat keeping tourists away from Taj Mahal

Agra, June 11 (UNI) The searing heat wave Uttar Pradesh is reeling under is also keeping tourists off the world famous Taj Mahal here.

According to sources, the high temperature has brought a steep decline of around 65 per cent in tourists visting the Taj.

The extreme heat wave over the last fortnight is also keeping the locals stay in-doors during daytime.

With temperature touching 47 degrees Celsius in Agra divison, more than 20 people have so far died, while several others have taken ill.

Water and power crises here has further worsened the situation.

Last Sunday, a 61 year-old woman, who came to view beauty of the Taj, fell unconscious due to sun stroke.
