Retired army major murdered in Vadodara

Vadodara, June 11 (UNI) A 68-year-old retired army Major was murdered by some unknown assailants at Lakshmipal Society in the city's new Sama Road area.

The incident occurred last evening when Omkar Babarjung Gurung was alone at home, while his wife Lata and their son Sachin had gone to the railway station. When they returned, they found Gurung lying in a pool of blood with severe head injuries. He was declared dead on being admitted to Bhailal Amin Hospital, police said today.

Police Commissioner P C Thakur told UNI that the motive seemed to be robbery but nothing was taken away from the Gurung household.

A manhunt has been launched for the assailants.
