RBI officer drives wife to commit suicide over dowry demand, held
Mumbai, Jun 11 (UNI) A Reserve Bank of India deputy general manager, H N Panda, has been arrested for allegedly demanding dowry from his wife that drove her to commit suicide yesterday.
Panda (44) had allegedly been demanding money and other things from his wife Shaswati(33), police said. Shaswati committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house yesterday. Panda took her to the Hinduja Hospital but she was declared dead.
Shivaji Park police station officials said Panda has been arrested under sections 498 and 307 of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before a local court which remanded him in police custody till June 16.
