Hyderabad, June 11: Shaik Nayeem alias Sameer, an accused in the Samjhauta Express Bomb Blast Case, was today remanded to five-day police custody from June 13 to 17 in connection with an attempt to get a fake passport.

The XII Additional Metropolitan Magistrate remanded Sameer, who was brought here from Mumbai on June 6 in connection with the attempt to get a fake passport, to police custody after Special Investigation Cell (SIC), probing Mecca Masjid bomb blasts on May 18, filed a petition seeking ten-day police custody for him.

Sameer, resident of Jalna in Maharashtra, was caught by the West Bengal Police while trying to cross the border along with two Kashmiris and a Pakistani.

He had come to the city in February to get a fake passport. His acquaintance Shoab Jagirdar, who also tried to get a fake passport, was recently arrested.

The SIC police would conduct narco-analysis test on him to ascertain his complicity in the masjid blast case.

Police said they had some doubts about the movements of Sameer in the city in connection with the masjid bomb blast which claimed nine lives.

Intelligence inputs said he had met Shahed alias Bilal, a wanted terrorist in the country.

SIC officials produced Sameer before the court on June seven when the Magistrate remanded him to judicial custody.
