Periyar tickets at half rate for students

Chennai, June 11 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today announced 50 per cent concession on ticket rates to enable school students to watch the film Periyar based on Rationalist Leader E V Ramasamy.

Announcing this at a press conference here, Higher Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said the government order to this effect was issued today.

He said the government was taking steps to ensure that all the students watched the film. It had asked the district eductional authorities and school principals to make arrangements for screening of film in places where there were no theatres.

Mr Thennarasu also asked the authorities in government and matriculation shools to give direct admissions to Plus One students who had passed the tenth standard examinations, without conducting any tests.
