Over 1500 patients receive treatment from naval medical teams

Kochi, Jun 11 (UNI) Over 1500 patients with viral fever were treated by two naval medical teams camping in the Kottayam and Idukki districts in Kerala.

The naval medical team, tenting in Kottayam attended as many as 60 patients yesterday, besides undertaking the fogging and spraying activities at Veyur.

The team treated about 600 patients at a camp site at Punjar and 550 patients at a camp at Erumelli, according to an official release here.

The medical team at Idukki organised two camps, including the Travancore Tea Rubber Estate in Peruvandanan Gram Panchayat dispensary where about 200 patients, majority of them with symptoms of Chikungunya, received treatment.

The team later visited Cheravalli, where about 230 patients received medical attention and treatment.

The team would move to Kokkayan Gram Panchayat tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a third medical team fully equipped with medicines and equipment was ready at the naval base for deployment to Muvatupuzha as required by the health authorities.

The Army Medical teams also rendered medical treatment to over 600 patients in Pathananthitta district besides carrying out spraying and fogging activities in the infested areas.

A team of scientists from Armed Forces Medical College, Pune were expected to arrive in the state to carry out studies about the disease.
