Mirzapur, June 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh health department has identified Mirzapur division as the most sensitive for malaria, which has left the district administration in a tizzy.

According to reports, Mirzapur, Sonebhadra and Sant Ravidasnagar had been identified as the most affected areas of the division.

There has been a sudden increase in cases of malaria and other vector-borne diseases in recent past.

After getting reports, Mirzapur divisional Commissioner Umadhar Dwivedi has ordered implementation of special programme 'operation mosquito' to curb the menace.

A 'rapid test kit' will also be provided to the patients.

According to local health department officials, maximum number of malaria and filaria cases have been detected in the district.

Mosquito-borne diseases peak during the period from July to August every year.

The Chief Medical Officer said a special programme would be started soon to spread awareness among people. The causes and precautions regarding malaria would be highlighted under it.

Almost, 50-60 per cent of the malaria incidents are reported from the district, for which the local environment and laxity to control the disease on part of the administration are the main causes.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate D C Shukla said a month long programme had been implented from June 1 in the district.
