MCX turnover at Rs 3150.22 cr

Mumbai, June 11 (UNI) The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) turnover today touched Rs 3150.22 crore in the first session up to 1700 hrs and total number of trades was 54,936.

MCX Comdex -- the composite index of metal, energy and agri-indices -- was down 0.25 per cent at 2131.07 points. The MCX Metal Index was down 0.02 per cent at 2529.61 points, MCX Energy Index was at 2164.62 points, and MCX Agri Index was up by 0.14 per cent at 1693.13 points, an MCX spokesperson said.

Bullion turnover totalled Rs 1168 crore of which gold was Rs 770.35 crore and silver Rs 397.62 crore. Gold contract volumes were 8,775 kgs and open interest was 14,161 kg while silver volumes were 220,060 kgs and open interest was 560,800 kg.

Gold contracts, including gold mini, lost between Rs 12 and Rs 30 per 10 gm, with the August contracts receding by 0.31 per cent at Rs 8757 per ten gm.

Silver contracts, including silver mini, gained in the range of Rs 34 to Rs 84 per kg. The July contract was up by 0.21 per cent at Rs 18,032 per kg.

In the base metals segment, copper contracts turnover was Rs 593.09 crore with volume of 19,807,000 kg and open interest of 16,159,000 kg. Copper contracts traded up between Re 1.35 and Rs 1.85 per kg with the June contract up by 0.62 per cent at Rs 300.15 per kg.

Turnover of all zinc contracts was Rs 481.47 crore with volume of 131,715 tonnes and open interest of 31,165 tonnes. Zinc contracts moved up between Rs 1.20 and Rs 2.05 with the June contract up at Rs 152.20 per kg.

Turnover of all nickel contracts was Rs 1193.82 crore with volume of 1,075,750 kg and open interest of 870,750 kg. Nickel for June delivery was up by 0.89 per cent at Rs 1,807.70 per kg.

Turnover of all aluminium contracts was Rs 4.48 crore with volume of 404 tonnes and open interest of 6,560 tonnes. Aluminium June contract was up 0.18 per cent at Rs 110.75 per kg, the MCX spokesman added.
