New Delhi, June 11 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati tonight hosted a dinner in honour of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi here during which they were believed to have discussed the nominee for next month's Presidential election.

Earlier, Ms Gandhi, who returned from abroad this evening, had a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the same issue.

The BSP supremo, who landed here on Saturday, is expected to be in the capital till tomorrow morning. Though Ms Mayawati's political secretary Rohit Mathur has denied any official engagements for her, it was expected that she would call on the Prime Minister too.

During her first visit to the national capital on May 25 after assuming office, the UP CM had held a meeting of BSP national Executive to discuss the issue of whom to support for the next occupant of Raisina Hills.

She had then told a news conference that she would be announcing her party's choice soon.

Reports from Lucknow said she would disclose the name during her current visit.

The BSP, which won over 200 assembly seats in the recent Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, can play a crucial role in next month's presidential election.

Ms Mayawati's extended visit to the capital assumes significance in the light of the fact that the Congress-led UPA coalition will be keen to know the stance of BSP that can have a crucial bearing on the Presidential election.
