Kerala Govt not honest in reclaiming Tata land: Jacob
Kochi, June 11 (UNI) Kerala Congress leader T M Jacob today alleged that the Kerala Government was not honest in reclaiming excess land from Tata Tea at Munnar in Idukki district of the State.
''Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan, Forest Minister Benoy Viswom and Revenue Minister K P Rajendran were moving in different directions in this issue,'' he told reporters here.
Mr Jacob said Mr Achuthanandan should practice what he had advised the previous UDF Government -- Tata Tea's excess land should be reclaimed and distributed to the landless farmers.
The eviction process undertaken by the Government in Munnar was an eyewash and the Government was not honest in reclaiming land from the big parties, he alleged.
Mr Jacob urged the Union and State Governments to take appropriate steps to contain the outbreak of viral fever.
To promote Cashew cultivation in the State, he urged the State Government to constitute a Cashew Board on the lines of the Rubber Board.
