Human trafficking case: Court grants bail to TRS MLA

Hyderabad, June 11 (UNI) A city court today granted bail to Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA K Lingaiah, who was arrested by the Central Crime Station (CCS) Police on April 27 in connection with the sensational human trafficking scam, unearthed after the arrest of BJP MP Babubhai Katara in New Delhi.

The XII Additional Metropolitan Magistrate granted bail to the TRS MLA after hearing defence and prosecution counsels. The TRS MLA was lodged in the Cherlapalli Jail.

Mr Lingaiah reportedly confessed he met Rashid, the alleged kingpin in the trafficking scam who surrendered before the CCS police on May 3 and admitted having obtained a fake passport in the name of his wife for a Gujarati woman to send her abroad.

He also said he introduced another TRS MLA S Bapu Rao, who also surrendered before the police on May 10, for his alleged involvment in the trafficking scam, to Rashid.

The TRS MLA would be released from the jail by this evening, the sources said.
