Haryana procures wheat worth Rs 2,838 cr

Chandigarh, Jun 11 (UNI) The Haryana Government has disbursed Rs 2,838.56 crore to the farmers of the state for the purchase of their 33.39 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of wheat during the current rabi season so far.

Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said HAFED had purchased 12.87 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 1,093.97 crore while Food and Supplies Department procured 8.12 lakh MTs of wheat and payment of Rs 690.39 crore had been made.

Food Corporation of India had procured 3.49 lakh MTs of wheat and disbursed a sum of Rs 297 crore to the farmers and Agro Industries Corporation purchased 3.33 lakh MTs and paid a sum of Rs 283.24 crore.

He said Haryana Warehousing Corporation procured 2.91 lakh MTs of wheat on a payment of Rs 247.82 crore and Confed had purchased 2.66 lakh MTs and a payment of Rs 226.14 crore was made to the farmers.

Mr Chander Mohan over 37.02 lakh MTs of wheat has arrived in the 360 mandis of the state so far and out of this 33.39 lakh MTs had been purchased by the six government procuring agencies which was 90 per cent of the total arrival while the traders had purchased 3.62 lakh MTs of wheat.
