Gulmarg Gondola earns Rs 69 lakh in 10 days
Srinagar, June 11 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporation (JKSCCC) has earned Rs 69 lakh from both the locals and the tourists who took a ride on the Gulmarg Gondola during the past ten days, official sources said today.
This was in comparison to Rs 63 lakh earned by the JKSCCC during the corresponding period last year, they added.
The JKSCCC had earned a total revenue of Rs 6 crore from the Gulmarg Gondola last year and set a target of Rs 10 crore for this fiscal, the sources said.
The world's highest and the Asia's longest cable car project connects the famed tourist resort of Gulmarg with the bowl-shaped Kongdoori valley at a height of 3,930 mt and snow-capped peaks of Apharwat, situated at an altitude of 13,400 ft (4,390 mt). The distance between Gulmarg and Apharwat is 13 km.
The Gulmarg Gondola cable car, a joint venture of the Jammu and Kashmir government and French firm Poma Glaski, has 36 cabins and can ferry about 600 tourists to and fro Apharwat peaks at one time.
