Getting released from Kent left to Ford: Shah

Bangalore, Jun 11 (UNI) Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) Secretary Niranjan Shah today said that the Board was fully aware of the commitments of newly appointed Team India coach Graham Ford and it was left to the South African to work out his release from Kent before taking up the new assignment.

"He will have to meet the officials at Kent and work out the matter. We are in the know of his commitments. Today or tomorrow we will know what transpires as he is scheduled to talk to the officials of that county. Then we will know about Ford's contractual commitment with Kent," Shah added.

Ford, who is the Director of Cricket at English county Kent, will have to work out an amicable release and his immediate joining the Team India may be delayed. Reports from London said that the club was determined to keep hold of their Director and if it failed to convince him to stay, it may demand compensation from BCCI. Ford's contract with Kent runs till September 2008.

Speaking to newspersons at M Chinnaswamy Stadium where the Batsmen's camp is underway, Shah said the contract with Ford was of one year duration and the Board would continuously assess his performance and take his views on Indian players earnestly.

"We will ensure very good communication between Ford and the Board and his assessment of Team India will be important. The Coach Selection Committee would meet after every tour to assess his performance," he stated.
