Srinagar, Jun 11 (UNI) The ownership rights of more than 16 lakh kanals (80,000 hectares) of land in Jammu and Kashmir would soon be vested on the farmers under the recently enacted Roshni Act.
Transport Minister and Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) chairman Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen stated this at public meetings here.
The Roshni Act passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature recently was expected to improve the living standards of the farming community across the state, he added.
Hakeem Yaseen expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the Congress-led coalition government in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. The state government would strive for implementing its Common Minimum Programme (CMP) in totality, he added.

He said the people of the state were aspiring for peace and the government was committed to restoring that with honour and dignity.
Hakeem Yaseen said the PDF was emerging as a strong political force in Jammu and Kashmir and hoped that the people would extend their full cooperation to the party in carrying forward the agenda of peace and development in the state.
He said the PDF would continue to support the Congress-led coalition government to restore peace, development and prosperity besides implementing the CMP.
The Minister said the government created 13 new administrative units in the state to address the developmental needs of the people of all the regions.
