Disease surveillance project launched in Arunachal
Itanagar, Jun 11 (UNI) To improve health sector in Arunachal Pradesh, Health and Family Welfare Minister C C Singpho today launched a Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) to build a common data base for checking outbreak of diseases and check mortality.
Pointing out that the Centrally-sponsored IDSP would link all the districts, Mr Singpho said it would be a challenge for the Rapid Response Team (RRT).
The IDSP was launched in November 2004 with the objective to establish a state-based decentralised system of disease surveillance and response.
To develop an early warning and response system, first installment of Rs 95 lakh has been released for its implementation in the third phase, he said.
The project would frequently review the programme, appoint RRTs, ensure collection and compilation of quality information from all public and private sector hospitals, conduct training and wide dissemination of information on reporting formats, he informed.
The DSOs could also evaluate National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) by conducting surveillance and identifying focus districts for the purpose and reflect the specific needs of the state for additional funding, he added.
