Delhi HC Chief Justice to hear BMW Sting Op case on July 2
New Delhi, June 11 (UNI) Delhi High Court today referred back the proceedings in the BMW case wherein a sting operation by a TV channel revealed collusion between the prosecution and defence.
The matter will now be heard by the Chief Justice on July 2.
A Vacation Bench comprising Justices J P Singh and S Murlidhar sent the case back to the Chief Justice, as he had taken suo moto cognizance of the telecast of the TV sting operation and issued notices to the TV channel asking them to deposit all original tapes in the court.
Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court M K Sharma had taken a serious view of the sting operation which alleged irregularities in the criminal justice system.
Lawyer of the TV channel(NDTV) told the court that as per the court directions they have submitted all original tapes of the footage with the Registrar General.
The channel had shown then special prosecutor I U Khan and senior advocate R K Anand, who is defending Sanjeev Nanda, an accused in the infamous BMW hit-and-run case, colluding to save Nanda by urging the witnesses to change their statements.
