Jaipur, June 11: The Rajasthan CPI today urged the Centre to extend benefits of reservation to the economically weaker sections of upper castes.

Talking to mediapersons here party state secretary Dushyant Ojha said in addition to the existing reservation benefits to people of SC, ST and OBCs, ten per cent reservation should be provided to the poor strata of upper castes.

He said if there was any constitutional constraint for the same then the Centre should find a way out for extending the benefit to poor masses.

The party also held both ruling BJP and Congress responsible for deterioration of law and order in the state during the Gujjar agitation for inclusion in the ST list.

Both these ''capitalist'' parties had provocated people of different communities for and against the Gujjar agitation and taken the state on the verge of community clash, Mr Ojha said.

He said all communities should raise their demands within the purview of the constitution in a peaceful and democratic manner.

Mr Ojha also appealed to leaders of all parties to come forth with a peaceful solution to the Gujjar demand.
