Congress MLA condemns arrest of Chahal

Chandigarh, June 11 (UNI) Condemning the arrest of B I S Chahal, former media advisor to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khera today said that it was a clear case of political victimisation.

"I am not trying to defend Chahal, but the methodology adopted by the government in registering the case and arresting the former media advisor was questionable", Mr Khera said while talking to UNI.

While pointing out that the incident on the bases of which the case was registered happened in October last year, the Congress leader claimed that it was a fabricated and concoted case. All legal and constitutional norms had been thrown to the wind by the government, he said while claiming that the case was registered after Chahal had got bail in the Ludhiana City Center case from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Mr Khera also condemned the role of the Punjab Police in "bowing before the dictates of the political rulers".
