Chahal claims he is victim of political vendetta
Ludhiana, June 11 (UNI) High profile media advisor to former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh, B I S Chahal today alleged that his arrest was part of the ''political vendetta'' unleashed by the SAD-BJP government against opponents.
'' The government has slapped a false case against me,'' he said in a brief exchange with mediapersons here just after his production before a judicial magistrate here in connection with the criminal case registered against him and six of his relatives under sections 307, 452, 447, 379, 148 and 149 of the IPC.
Chahal alongwith the other six was produced in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) K S Cheema under tight security arrangements.
The CJM remanded Chahal and five others to three-days police custody, while Iqbal Singh who was below 18 years of age was sent to a juvenile home for 14 days. Besides Chahal the others who were remanded in police custody were--Kartar Singh and his three sons, Jagdish Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Jaswinder Singh and his grandson Harjinder Singh. Chahal's son is married to the daughter of Jagdish Singh.
As he was being led out of the court's complex, Chahal alleged that he was ill-treated and was stripped naked at the Sadar police station where he along with the others was kept for the night after their arrest yesterday.
'' I am a heart patient and still they (cops) kept me in lock up,'' he claimed as the policemen whisked him away and put him into a waiting police vehicle.
