Youth's body identified as that of cricket player

Lucknow, June 10 (UNI) The body of a youth recovered on May 8 in Kanpur was today identified as that of former under-15 Indian Cricket captain Subhash Dixit.

Police said Subhash had jumped to death from a multi-storied shopping complex, Krishna Tower, at Gavaltoli in Kanpur.

The deceased's coach Mohsin Raza said the player was depressed over not getting a chance to play in the Ranji trophy.

''I regret the discrimination done by the selectors to Subhash.

He was an outstanding cricketer, who played well in under-17 and under-18, but was not given an opportunity to play at higher level,'' Raza added.

The state government should provide employment opportunities to good players like him, he sadded.
